# SMS template

SMS templates are used for generating text messages. When you use Fridgedoor for communication, it does a few other things before sending a text message. You can start creating a new template with this link

The above image gives you an idea of what you need for creating a new template. Lets add input to our new template.

# Name

The name of the SMS template. This is used only for your reference.

# Merge Fields

These are the fields that you need to subtitute your csv values.

eg: If we use our example CSV, merge fields could be name, company and due date. The mobile number is not used in merge fields because you don't have to show a phone number in your text content.

# SMS

The text content of our template will go here. There are a few more merge fields you could add to your template. Take a look at the reserved merge fields list here
